A wonderfully wearable study in texture. The Ravelers who have made it rave about its excellence as a layering piece. And the cowl forms an optional collar for when you want a different look. The boxy shape makes fitting easier and knitting simpler.
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills. Comfortable with knit, purl, decreasing, binding off.
Homework: Make and block (gently) a swatch at least in garter stitch, and try needles until you get close to the gauge. We’ll do some figuring to see which size you need to make based on this. Cast on the number of stitches for the size you think you want, but don’t join in the round.
Skills Learned: Waffle stitch, 3 needle bind off, picking up stitches, decreasing in pattern, changing from round to flat knitting.
Materials Required: Massaman pattern by Elizabeth Smith. A good quality worsted wool (Designed for the lovely Lark by Quince & Co.) See pattern for yardage—which includes the cowl. This is a somewhat cropped top, so get more if you plan to lengthen it.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
