Alanis is a perfect layering piece that stretches from one season into another. It is oversized and easy to fit. It’s a simple piece but never gets boring because of all the fun and stylish details. If you would like to expand your skills, or need a refresher on any of the skills listed above, you will really enjoy this project.
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills, including ability to increase, decrease and bind off.
Homework: Work a gauge swatch and block it. Repeat with different size needles until you are pretty close to the stated gauge. We will fine-tune at the first class.
Skills Learned: Using gauge and ease to choose size, short rows, simple pocket insertion, knitted-on and purled-on cast on, 3-needle bind off, I-cord edging.
Materials Required: Pattern: Alanis by Elizabeth Smith Knits (purchase here), yarn - worsted weight yarn in amounts called for in the pattern (796 to 1766 yards, depending on size required). The pocket calls for about 30 yards of a contrast color (optional). Needles to get gauge. Waste “yarn” for which I recommend crochet or similar smooth cotton string.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
