Beginning Lace: Emily Scarf

Beginning Lace will introduce you to lace-knitting techniques. We will explore different lace patterns, and we'll learn to knit from charts. Use what you learn to knit this the “Emily” scarf by Pam Allen, a charming lace scarf with a botanical motif.
Instructor: Amy Wentley
Prerequisites: Comfortable beginner. You should know how to knit and purl well. Experience with increases (kfb) and decreases (ssk, k2tog) helpful, but not required.
Skills Learned: Lace knitting, reading patterns from charts, yarn overs, increases and decreases, using life lines and fixing mistakes.
Materials Required: 150g (approximately 500-550 yds) of sport weight wool yarn. We suggest Quince & Co. Chickadee. If you need help choosing, stop by the shop. Be sure to pick out your yarn (we recommend choosing a light color) and have it wound before class starts. US 5, 24" circular needle. Stitch markers, darning needle. You will also need to purchase a copy of the pattern (available for purchase in-store).
