Knitloop Socks
Thu 9/30, 10/21, & 11/11
3-5 pm

For the safety of our students and teachers, if you are not fully vaccinated, please let us schedule you a private Zoom class.

Take your sock-knitting up a notch and take your colorwork to new planets. Introducing the Color Loop! It sends a little stripe of color vertically up the sock and makes self-striping yarn sing. It is a bit fiddly at first, but soon becomes habit-forming, where you can’t wait to do the next color round and see what happens.

Instructor: Jean Carter

Prerequisites: Some experience knitting socks, at least one pair.

Homework: Using a stretchy cast-on, cast on 64 stitches, join in the round and work 1x1 ribbing for a total of 15 rounds. (Put the sts on a string and try it on. If it won’t slip over your heel, try again with a bigger needle or add stitches in multiples of 8.)

Skills Learned:  Color Loops technique. Shadow-wrap heels and toes. Finchley graft

Materials Required:  I will be using Amelia Archer’s free Knitty pattern, Knitloops, https://knitty.com/ISSUEss21/PATTknitloops/PATTknitloops.php  as a base but I have re-written the heel and a few other small changes. Please print out hers and I will send you mine before class.

A self-striping sock yarn, enough for a pair of socks. Narrower stripes are better than broad ones.

Your preferred style of needle to knit in the round on a small circumference.

Your preferred size of needle to get the ribbed band of 64 stitches big enough to just slide over your heel.

A bunch (8-10) of locking stitch markers.

All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
