Ship Shape Sweater
Wed 10/13, 11/3, & 12/1
10 am-12 pm
For the safety of our students and teachers, if you are not fully vaccinated, please let us schedule you a private Zoom class.
This sweater takes the most flattering parts of the raglan, the drop-shoulder and the boat neck construction and puts then together in a hybrid. You can play with the stripes any way you’d like, make it in three colors, use self striping yarn. You can make the sleeves long if you like (just remember to get extra yarn.)
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills plus increases and decreases. Helpful to have some experience in small-circumference knitting in the round. (dpn’s, Magic Loop, two-circs)
Homework: Make and block a swatch of at least 4x4” in stockinette in one color. Change needles if needed to get near the recommended gauge. We will use our actual gauge to choose a size at the first session.
Skills Learned: Pick-up-and-knit, cable cast on, shoulder-gusset construction, carrying colors while making stripes,
Materials Required: Pattern: Ship Shape by Heidi Kirrmaier. Two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn, in solid or semisolid colors, see pattern for yardage. Ask a friendly staff member for help in picking out your yarn! Size 4(US) and 3(US) needles or whatever size gives you the best gauge. Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors, etc.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
