Simple and soothing to knit, this soft, snuggly blanket is perfect to wrap your baby in. Blanket, hood, and border are knit in the round in one piece. It can be adapted to almost any size and gauge. We will learn the Emily Ocher cast on, twisted yarnover increases, and short row shaping.
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: basic knitting skills-- know how to cast on, knit, purl, an bind off
Homework: Because cotton yarn can shrink when machine washed, it is recommended that you make a gauge swatch and machine wash and dry it first. Be sure to measure BEFORE AND AFTER washing. Cast on 30 sts. Rows 1-10: (P5, k5); repeat to end of row. Rows 11-20: (K5, p5); repeat to end of row. Repeat rows 1-20 again, bind off. [If you want to make your gauge swatch into a little matching washcloth for baby, cast on 40 and work 55 rows.]
Materials Required: Blue Sky Worsted Cotton, 4 skeins main color and 1 skein for contrast edge. Needles: size US7 dpns and 32-inch long circulars.
