Afterthought Heel - Sock Tube Class

Are you ready to take your sock knitting to a whole new level?  Then join us for this fun class and learn how to place an afterthought heel and create a sock from a tube!  This class is for a confident or advanced beginner knitter who is comfortable working with sock weight yarn and ready to learn a new technique.  A basic sock pattern will be provided. 

All classes and lessons must be purchased online.

• Knit
• Purl

Homework: none

Skills Learned:

• Separate the tube
• Measure for heel placement 
• Picking up stitches for the heel
• Knit the heel (learn decreases)
• Kitchener stitch
• Pattern review for toe and cuff 

Materials Required:

• One skein of sock yarn, purchased at Warm & Fuzzy and TUBED prior to class.  (Note: A speckled or variegated yarn is recommended to see the stitches easier.)
• Sock mini or contrast color of sock yarn if you desire a contrast heel or toe
• US 1 (2.25mm) knitting needles. Either 32” for magic loop, or 2 sets of 16” based on your preference of small circumference knitting. (Note: 9” circulars can be used on the cuff, but are not recommended for the heel in this class.)
• Measuring tape
• Darning needle
• Locking stitch markers
• Barber cord or scrap yarn (to place stitches on hold)
• An outline of your foot or the person you are making the socks for, drawn on a piece of paper.  Please bring this to class for calculating measurements.

Class Policies:  All class materials must be purchased from Warm 'n Fuzzy. For class cancellations: if cancellation is made outside of 48 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit to be used on any future purchase with the shop. There will be no refunds on cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time. Warm 'n Fuzzy reserves the right to cancel any classes if less than 3 students sign up within 24 hours of the start time. If the class is canceled by Warm 'n Fuzzy, you will be refunded.
