Coburg Hat

This is Part 3 of the series Baby Steps to Brioche, designed to take you from basic to beautiful in manageable bites. We’ve got a good grasp on texture and colors. Now it’s time for columns and stars and leaves and circularity, and all the wonderful places brioche can go.

Instructor:  Jean Carter (aka Dr. Jean!)

Prerequisites: Ability to knit in the round in a small circumference (such as dpn’s or Magic Loop.) Experience with 2-color brioche.

Skills Learned:  Brioche in the round. Patterning and shaping with brioche increasing and decreasing--single and double.

Materials Required: Pattern Coburg by Brambles and Bindweed, available on Ravelry. 50 g each of two HIGHLY contrasting colors of DK yarn. Size US 6 needles, one that is 16” log and the other suitable for small-circumference in-the-round knitting, such as double pointed needles or a 40” long circular.

Homework: Using your dark yarn, cast on 80 stitches on a 16” needle and join to work in the round. (I’m requesting everyone make the small size, so we can move forward more quickly.) Work the pattern for rounds 1 through 7 and stop.

Class Policies:  All class materials must be purchased from Warm 'n Fuzzy. For class cancellations: if cancellation is made outside of 48 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit to be used on any future purchase with the shop.  There will be no refunds on cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time.
