Learn how to knit your first pair of socks! In this class you’ll make a pair of nice, thick pair of socks in plenty of time for winter. With worsted weight yarn, you’ll be amazed at how quickly this free pattern knits up! Once you put on a pair of hand-knit socks, you’ll never want to wear store-bought socks again.


Instructor:  Melissa


Prerequisites:  Advanced beginner; participants must be comfortable knitting, purling, casting on and binding off.


Skills Learned:  Small circumference knitting, magic loop, short rows, picking up stitches, grafting, heel shaping, and much, much more!


Materials Required:  Rye by Tin Can Knits (free pattern), approximately 150-350 yards of worsted weight yarn in color of choice (avoid black and other really dark colors as they can be difficult to see), a set of 40” circular needles in US sizes #3 and #5. Note: Yardage required depends on size desired:  Baby, Toddler, Child, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large (150, 175, 200, 250, 300, 350 yds) 


Please also bring a crochet hook, stitch markers, and tapestry needle.
