A very straightforward open-front cardi inspired by the designer’s home in the Maine woods. Its pattern of lacey holes looks like sun dappling a forest floor. It would be a good first sweater for an advanced beginner or beyond. It even comes in a child size, if you want to start with something smaller. (Children’s Campside Cardi) It would look great in Fiberstory DK in a solid or tonal colorway, or another DK-weight yarn without too much variegation.
Prerequisites: intermediate knitting skills-- comfortable with knit, purl, cast on, and bind off
- top-down sweater construction
- sweater sizing
- raglan shaping
- finishing techniques
- small-circumference knitting
Homework: You will need to have knitted AND BLOCKED swatches as needed to get fairly close to the gauge. We will check the gauge and pick a size at the first class. Bring the needles you used to get the best gauges.
Materials Required: 920 to 1975 yards DK-weight yarn, depending on size required. Size US 8 circular needle (at least 24"), or size needed to obtain gauge of 18 sts/4" in stockinette stitch. You will also need dpns in this size, as well as circulars in 1 size larger and 2 sizes smaller; however, you may want to wait to determine gauge needle to purchase these. Pattern is available for purchase in-store.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
