Beginning Weaving, Fall '23

Learn to weave! In this 2-session class you will learn all the skills necessary for a beginning weaving project and complete a beautiful scarf. (Note: First session runs 12 - 5 pm, and second session runs 12 - 3 pm.  First session includes a 30-min lunch break.)

Prerequisites:  None

Materials Included:  We will provide use of looms for 3 students. After completion of class, students may special-order a loom for at-home use.

Materials Required:  1 or 2 skeins lace or fingering weight yarn for the warp, and 1 or 2 skeins lace or fingering weight yarn for the weft. Warp yarns are the length-wise yarns that are stretched under tension on the loom. Weft yarns are the cross-wise yarns and can be of a more delicate nature if desired. For the warp, its best to choose a strong yarn not likely to break under tension. Loosely plied and single ply lace yarns are not well suited for the warp.  Please ask for assistance in choosing yarn.
