This is the perfect project for the beginner who is ready to tackle their first garment. The skills you will learn are the simple next steps for someone who can already comfortably knit and purl. And it includes advice on making sure your garment fits. A very relaxing knit with lots of stockinette stitch.

Instructor: Jean Carter

Prerequisites: Comfortable with knitting and purling.

Homework: We will use your gauge numbers to choose your sweater size in the first class. Before the first class, cast on 30 sts with the recommended yarn and needle, work in stockinette for 3 inches. Measure the gauge, wash and block the piece and measure the gauge again. (Write down both the before and after gauges.) If the after-block gauge is not close to the one in the pattern, get a smaller or larger needle and try again. If you have any trouble with this, I’d be happy to talk you through it before class. Contact me through the shop. (Don’t wait too late to do this. It takes time.) NB: The gauge stated in the pattern is a misprint. Her true gauge is 26 sts per 4 inches, not 25.

Skills Learned: Very simple lace, three-needle bind-off, mattress seaming, pick-up-and-knit, translating gauge to fit.

Materials Required: Hadi by Emily Walton. Any summery fingering weight yarn, like Linea, Knitting for Olive Pure Silk, or Quince & Co. Sparrow. Check the pattern for yardage required, but note this: the designer says the picture is a cropped version of the sweater and the recommended yardage will make one that is 4” longer than the pictured one. (I don’t recommend a multi-color yarn for this project, because the lace will get lost.) Needles to get gauge.

Class Policies:  All class materials must be purchased from Warm 'n Fuzzy. For class cancellations: if cancellation is made outside of 48 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit to be used on any future purchase with the shop.  There will be no refunds on cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time.
