Learn how to knit your first pair of socks, or become more comfortable with sock knitting in this three-session class.  Hermione's Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder have an easy-to-memorize pattern, and looks nice with variegated or solid yarns.  The pattern is free, and all you need is one skein of yarn to make this magical accessory.

Instructor:  Melissa

Prerequisites:  Advanced beginner; participants must be comfortable knitting, purling, casting on and binding off.

Skills Learned:  Small circumference knitting, picking up stitches, grafting, heel shaping, and much, much more!

Materials Required:  Approximately 350-400 yards of fingering weight sock yarn in color of choice (avoid black and other really dark colors as they can be difficult to see); choose one from the following needle options in size appropriate to achieve gauge (typically size 1, 1.5, or 2):

  • single 40" circular needle
  • pair of circular needles (16" to 24" length)

Please also bring a crochet hook and tapestry needle. Gauge required for this pattern is 9 sts / inch; gauge will be discussed in class.
