Introduction to Colorwork (Autumn Version)

This class is for those familiar with knit and purl stitches and are comfortable with knitting in the round. Have you made a hat and are looking for the next step to build your knitting skills? This class is for you! Come learn the basics of knitted colorwork and work on a beautiful cowl project for fall.

All classes and lessons must be purchased online at least 24 hours before the start time.

Prerequisites:

• Get your yarn and doodle card set from the shop
• Cast on the number of stitches for the size of cowl you prefer
• Complete the 1x1 knit, purl rib section and bring it to the first class

Skills Learned:

• Changing needle sizes
• Maintaining tension when working in the round
• Color dominance 
• Holding multiple strands of yarn
• Working continental and english styles of knitting
• Catching floats on the wrong side of the work
• How to read a colorwork chart
• Choosing colors that pop for your selected patterns
• Finishing and blocking your project

Materials Required:

• 50 g each, of 6 coordinating colors of DK weight yarn (kits available at Warm N Fuzzy)
• Autumn doodle card deck
• Sizes 3.5-4.0 mm, 16-24” circular needles
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

We have 2 options available for this class. You can purchase the class with the kit or the class only. If you purchase the class only option, you will need to separately purchase a Doodle Deck and 6 DK yarn colors.

The Warm 'n Fuzzy Kit includes:

• 6 x 50g skeins of DK weight 100% SW Merino in the colors depicted in the photo
• The Autumn Doodle Deck
• The Standard Cowl Doodle Pattern
• Your choice of stitch stoppers
• Colorwork class fee

Class Policies:  All class materials must be purchased from Warm 'n Fuzzy. For class cancellations: if cancellation is made outside of 48 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit to be used on any future purchase with the shop.  There will be no refunds on cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time. Warm 'n Fuzzy reserves the right to cancel any classes if not enough people sign up within 24 hours of the start time.
