Are you ready to move beyond hats and scarves? Want to tackle your first sweater? We will get you going with a simple baby sweater! It will knit up quickly while still teaching you all the same elements as many of your future garments.

Let’s knit along as we make our first sweater together as we discover how to check gauge, read a pattern, knit short rows, set up for and knit raglan increases, pick up for sleeves and knit using magic loop.

All classes and lessons must be purchased online.

Please note: we will all be making the same size (0-6m) sweater.

Instructor: Rachel Ruvo

Prerequisites: Cast-on, knit, purl, work in rib, bind off. Great attitude and willingness to learn.

Homework: You will have homework after each class session. For the first class, you must have already knit and blocked an appropriately gauged swatch.

Skills Learned: This class will allow for students to expand their advanced beginner skills and apply them to garment making.

Materials Required:

  • Printed Pattern for DK Flax (or Tin Can Knits app if using) - highlighted for the 0-6m size options

  • Yarn - 250 yards of dk weight yarn

  • Knitting Needles to obtain gauge for ribbing and body. Can be knit using Chiaogoo blue interchangeable shorties or on magic loop using 40” circular needles.

  • Notions - stitch markers, scissors, darning needle, waste yarn or barber cords
