A new way to add color to your knitting? Without strands or tangling? Yes, please! Come and learn Roosimine, another amazing technique from the rich Estonian tradition. We will start at the ribbed neck, add a few short rows to shape the shoulders, then be ready for our colorful adventure. After that it is a pretty straightforward raglan sweater with lovely sleeves that remind me of muttonchops.

Instructor: Jean Carter

Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills plus comfort with a working-in-the-round technique such as Magic Loop, dpns, 2 circs

Homework: Make gauge swatches in stockinette stitch with your main yarn, and keep experimenting with different needles until you get something fairly close to the recommended gauge. If you don’t get fairly exact gauge, or if you can’t decide which size to make, message me before class and we will consult. Before class, cast on about 90 sts with your smaller needles. Don’t worry, we can add some in class. This just gives us a head start.

Skills Learned: Roosimine colorwork technique, German short rows, raglan shaping, stretchy bind off.

Materials Required: Pattern Karelia by Midori Hirose. Available for purchase in the shop. Please bring a paper copy and a highlighter if you have one, as well as the usual knitting kit of tapestry needle, tape measure, scissors, locking and regular stitch markers. Yarn: We have a limited supply of lovely kits by Kokon in the shop that contain all the needed yarns, but can also help you figure out your own fun combinations!

All class materials must be purchased from Warm 'n Fuzzy. For class cancellations: if cancellation is made outside of 48 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit to be used on any future purchase with the shop. There will be no refunds on cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time.
