This class is for intermediate knitters who are familiar with basic stitches and working in the round using circular and double pointed needles. This hat is worked from the bottom up starting with a double knitted brim that goes into a two-color basic brioche rib. 

All classes and lessons must be purchased online at least 24 hours before the start time.

Instructor:  Kestrel McCorkle

Prerequisites:  Basic knitting knowledge required. Must know long tail cast on, basic knitting stitches, increases, decreases, and be comfortable with a small circumference knitting technique (Magic Loop or DPNs).

Skills Learned:

  • Hat construction
  • Determining gauge and changing needle sizes
  • Double knitting using two methods
  • Two color Italian cast-on
  • Brioche stitches
  • Brioche decreases - left and right slanting
  • Finishing techniques and blocking

Materials Required:

  • Approximately 125 yds of each color DK weight yarn; 2 colors are needed. If choosing a speckled yarn, your other color should be a solid color. 
  • Needles: US #5/3.75mm needles (your choice of short circular, two circulars, long circular for magic loop, and/or double-pointed needles). US #4/3.5mm needles optional for cast-on (see pattern).

Class Policies:  All class materials must be purchased from Warm 'n Fuzzy. For class cancellations: if cancellation is made outside of 48 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit to be used on any future purchase with the shop.  There will be no refunds on cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time.
