Tue 6/29, 7/20, & 8/10
For the safety of our students and teachers, if you are not fully vaccinated, please let us schedule you a private Zoom class.
You know you have been drooling over the Overthrow kits at the store, with their cloudlike softness and gorgeous colors. It’s time to celebrate and go ahead and get one. The wrap will take us on a texture and color journey as we blend stockinette, garter and two-color brioche along with stripes and a central spine to add visual structure. The areas of brioche are what really make this shawl fun.
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills. You don’t need to already know how to do brioche stitch, just a desire to learn it.
Homework: Gauge is not important for fit, but it is a good idea to work a 4” swatch in stockinette with mohair held double, to be sure you like the fabric and aren’t using too much yarn. No need to block the swatch this time(!)
Skills Learned: Two-color brioche knitting, Make-ones—right and left, Striping, Color management, Icelandic bind-off, Fixing brioche mistakes.
Materials Required: Pattern for Overthrow Wrap by Joji Locatelli. Overthrow yarn kit, available in the store. Size 6 (US) needle, at least 32” long, or another size depending on your gauge. Stitch markers and tapestry needle.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
