Beginner's Sampler Scarf

This class is for those brand new to knitting or have not picked up the needles in quite some time. We will be practicing a swatch, then starting work on a scarf.

All classes and lessons must be purchased online at least 24 hours before the start time.

Skills Learned: 

• How to hold the yarn and needles
• Maintaining tension
• Making a slip knot
• Long tail cast-on
• Stitches: knit, purl, yarn overs, slipping stitches 
• Increasing and decreasing stitches
• Types of yarn, weights, fibers, and notions
• How to read a pattern
• Using the free platform, Ravelry
• Weaving in ends, finishing
• Starting a project
• Bind-off

Class Materials: 

• 1 skein worsted weight superwash wool yarn, we recommend a light color of Malabrigo Rios 
• US 8/5.0 mm straight needles or 16” circular US 8/5.0 mm needles
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Materials Required: Please come in during shop hours to purchase your supplies and have your yarn wound.  You will need at least 1 skein of worsted weight yarn (we will help you with this!) as well as a pair of size US 8 needles, either straight or circular.
