VIRTUAL CLASS! Snug Too (Baby/Toddler Sweater)
Tue 7/28, 8/4, 8/11, 8/18, & 8/25
4-6 pm for 1st session, 3-5 pm for remaining sessions
Snug is right! Like a bug in a rug. The style is classic and the garter stitch is so squishy! This is a fun and interesting sweater to make, and a chance to learn some very useful techniques. These classes will be held via Zoom for 5 weekly sessions. You will receive a link to the zoom sessions after registration.
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills plus ability to knit in the round on dpn’s or Magic Loop. Some tiny bit of experience with crochet is helpful but not required. Knitting classes via Zoom are a little different than in-person classes. The main difference is that the teacher can’t fix any mistakes for you. For this reason, we recommend that you be able to do 2 basic things before taking an online class:
(1) Remove stitches one at a time across the row, i.e., “tink" and
(2) Pull out several rows and replace the stitches on the needle, i.e., “frog."
Homework: Work a gauge swatch if you are concerned about the exact size. (Since babies keep growing, it will probably fit at some point.)
Skills Learned: "Afterthought” sleeve, Seaming garter stitch, Crochet provisional cast on, Stretchy bind off, Grafting garter stitch.
Materials Required: Worsted weight superwash yarn, such as Malabrigo Rios, US size 8 needles, and same size long circular or dpn’s for the sleeves. Snug Too pattern by Hinke, available on Ravelry. (Don’t be confused. There is a “Snug” without the “Too” but it is for bulky weight yarn.) Please print the pattern out before class. Also have on hand: a few yards of scrap yarn or string in a contrast color, a crochet hook of similar size—anything from F to J should work, pencils, a highlighter, and a few stitch markers, including a locking one.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
