Say hello to the Cocoknits Method – The author describes it as “a system of tracking knitting progress in your own easy-to-follow customized worksheet. Unlike most traditional patterns that create flat shapes, the tailored style of construction in these patterns creates truly three dimensional garments that impart a great fit upon completion. All designs are worked from the neckline down, so once the neck and yoke area are established, the knitter can just cruise through generating the sweater and not worry about counting or losing track of their place in the pattern." Once you’ve gotten the idea, there is a world of patterns waiting for you from Cocoknits.

Instructor:  Jean Carter

Prerequisites: Basic knitting and a mild sense of adventure to try something new.

Homework: As always, if you hope for a garment to fit, you must work and block gauge swatches—changing needles until you find one that gets you close to the designer’s recommended gauge. We will not be evaluating gauge in class with this sweater, so if you have any questions about your gauge or the right size for you to make, contact me before the class and I will be happy to help. Come ready to start those needles flying. [Note: the designer does not suggest a certain amount of ease for this sweater. I suggest you measure a sweater that fits the way you want this one to, and choose a size that is near to that measurement.]

Skills Learned: The innovative Cocoknits method of top-down knitting that uses increases at specific intervals to create soft shaping that doesn’t require seaming. The neck, shoulders, yoke, and even buttonbands are created together. There is only a minimal amount of seaming and grafting to finish. Also, Judy’s Magic Cast On, buttonholes, pick-up-and-knit, short rows, and a stretchy bind off.

Materials Required: Pattern "Toni” by Julie Weisenberger (pattern available for purchase in-store). Yarn:  We love Quince & Co. Lark for this sweater; however, you may also use other worsted weight yarns for this sweater.  Feel free to ask for our recommendations!  Please have at least two skeins weight before the start of class.  You will also need basic knitting notions.

Class Policies:  All class materials must be purchased from Warm 'n Fuzzy. For class cancellations: if cancellation is made outside of 48 hours of class start time, you will be provided with a store credit to be used on any future purchase with the shop.  There will be no refunds on cancellations made within 48 hours of class start time.
