This sweet sweater is a great way to get to know Barbara Walker’s innovative way of making a sweater from the top down, but without seams or raglan shoulders. (Knitting from the Top Down) The designer calls it TD4S, standing for top-down, seamless, simultaneous, set-in sleeves. Which is a lot simpler than it sounds!
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills plus ability to knit in the round on double point needles or long-circular methods.
Homework: Make a gauge swatch and block it. (This doesn’t need to be too strict unless there is a certain size you want it to be, because babies come in all sizes.)
Skills Learned: Provisional cast on, picking up stitches, increasing and deceasing, backwards loop cast on, optional crochet edging (great for a girl baby.)
Materials Required: Babycakes pattern by Laura Aylor. DK-weight yarn, size US 5 circular needles (or needles to get gauge)—one 40” long needle will allow you to do both the body and the sleeves. But a shorter needle and dpn’s are fine, too. (Optional: crochet hook in size similar to needle.) One size 4 snap.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
