Ready to find out what’s so habit-forming about sock knitting? If you have some experience with knitting in the round, or even if you haven’t, but feel ready to learn, let’s make some socks. This is a basic pattern, with just a little fancy embellishment. The emphasis in this class will be working through the fundamentals.
Instructor: Jean Carter
Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills, ability to knit in the round in a small circumference very helpful.
Homework: none. We will use our sock as a gauge swatch.
Skills Learned: Heel flap, heel turn, gusset creation, toe shaping, grafting with Kitchener stitch.
Materials Required: Free pattern: Winterscape Socks by Kay Redding. At least 300 yards of sock yarn. You may need more if the foot you are knitting for is very big. Fixed circular needles, start with size US 1 (2.25 mm.) It should be 40 inches long if at all possible. If you are experienced with the Magic Loop, you can get by with a 32” needle. If you prefer to knit in the round on dpn’s, that’s fine, but most class demos will be done by Magic Loop. A small amount of smooth cotton string or yarn for use as waste yarn.
All class materials must be purchased from Warm n Fuzzy.
